Even The Best Fall

It's been a long day. We were out just before lunch time. We went to the Japanese market and got our supplies for our hot pot. We then went to the mall to buy a gift for Yohan's classmate.

I felt like a helpless terrible mother at the skating rink where we attended her classmate's birthday party.

It's Yohan's first time, she kept on falling. Picture this, falling numerous times and not in a graceful manner. Falling like all your limbs were flying, arms and legs spread out like a starfish, sometimes falling backwards. I was trying to hold her and I was sweating buckets. Until one parent told me to skate as well so I could teach her better. So I did. It was frustrating because she started crying.

One schoolmate who was probably 14-15 years old approached me and Yohan. She tried to help her. After a few attempts she asked Yohan if she needed a break. I heard her say the most meaningful words I never knew I needed to hear. From a teenager no less! She said

"It's ok Yohan, it's your first time. Even the best fall sometimes". I was awestruck.

When we got home we immediately started dinner. Jeff wanted to try wagyu beef and that huge red alaskan shrimp for our hot pot. He also made me that samyang curry ramen noodles everyone seemed to be raving about. I wasn't able to finish it. It was too spicy for me.
