20/100

I had an appointment with an optometrist this afternoon at Costco. They did a manual eye exam and an optomap retinal imaging. I initially said no to that procedure  when I had my pre-test because I had to pay more. But after my examination I was convinced to do it after because I knew my vision had dramatically changed from the last time I had my eye exam. They did a "peripheral vision"test as well which I passed :)

According to the eye doctor, I have to wear glasses all the time when driving, walking around or watching tv.

To my surprise , NOT when reading or working near a computer because I'm near sighted. You could not imagine the relief I felt knowing I could read all the time without wearing glasses.
My left eye is worse than my right eye though. My vision is 20/100. I can only read at 20 feet a letter that people with normal vision can read at 100 feet. Hmm, that's pretty far. The prescription was negative 1.5, negative 1 something.
I was trying to save money so I gave my old frame to be used again, they'll just replace the lenses.

I didn't renew our Costco membership so I had to ask a "Kuya" for his card so I could buy the lenses. We both had our appointment earlier. He was very kind.
The assistant was kind enough to give two prescription pads. One for Costco and one I'd bring to LensCrafters. I have to wait one to two weeks for my glasses from Costco but at Lenscrafters I could get it the same day.

I really couldn't believe how much clearer I could see with the lenses the optometrist prescribed. Now, Jeff won't panic when I'm  driving because I couldn't read the street signs. I thought the glasses I had were a lifesaver, it's useless now since the sphere, cylinder and axis all changed. I regret not having vision insurance this year but thankful I have my health savings card.
