Gabriel's Inferno
I wonder if what I read was indeed a biography of SR..I hope so..I wanted Gabriel to be a real person. Wishful Thinking.
When someone recommended this book. I just brushed it off, I thought to myself, another fifty or bared to you. ( no offense, I love fifty shades, I just didn't want to read another one like it,again...) My, I was wrong! I was actually already thinking of skipping all the sex scenes, for I listened to the hype that this was an erotic one. I wouldn't categorize Gabriel's Inferno as such. But if there's a difference or similarity between sex and intimacy, and being intimate is erotic, regardless if you had sex or not. Then yes, this is indeed one erotic novel.

The author valued how two people should share their bodies with one another. Like, a man should worship the body of a woman with his body by loving her and giving to her and moving with her toward ecstasy. Not use her for sex. That's something right?
I love its characterization, how it evolved..SR is very intelligent. He incorporated The Divine Comedy..you can sense this writer is different from all the others you and I have read. It's nice to read something that actually lets you become a student all over again. This is not some smut other people think of when you hear the word erotic. This book made me smarter, learned..
I was touched, how the writer showed great care in his characters. I was anticipating a sick bastard who (again) is into hurting or control. Again, I was wrong.although Gabriel had a heart-wrenching past, he was not as damaged as I thought. He's protective of Julia, he's very gentle with her, he spoils her, he makes extravagant gestures,he just loves her..The last part of the book was indescribable.it's like reading a completely different book from a completely different point of view. It's something, you do not normally read.. . Normally, I would imagine myself as the heroine.I felt I was Gabriel on the last few pages... Goosebumps!
I will not force you to read it NOW. But, when you do and you're done. I think you would say the same thing I did. "Why didn't I read this before?" Now, onto my next. Gabriel's Rapture...-- JB
Some of my favorite parts :
Being without you, Julianne, is like enduring an endless night without stars.”
She’s been broken, you jackass. That’s why she hasn’t kept in touch with me this past year. And now she’s finally crawled out of her shell, a shell I might add, that I thought she would never leave, and you’re forcing her back into it with your...your arrogance and condescension! So drop the Mr. Rochester-Mr. Darcy-Heathcliff British stuck-uppity bullshit and treat her like the treasure she is! Or I’m coming back here and putting a pump in your ass!”
Gabriel straightened his spine and cast her a withering stare. “By ‘pump,’ I take it you’re referring to a lady’s shoe?”
I wonder if he can see vestiges of my thong through the fabric of my dress. Scratch that. I hope he can see it. I hope it tortures him. Enjoy the view, Professor, because that’s all you’re ever going to get.
“It isn’t Dante, but it’s beautiful.” His thumb found the center of her lifeline and pressed it ever so gently. “The poem reminds me of you. You are where I’ve never traveled: your fragility and your small, small hands.”
J,
You didn’t think I would give up this easily, did you?
Never be ashamed to accept a gift when there are no strings attached.
There are no strings here. Yours,
Gabriel
She hummed unconsciously at his remark. “Why did you remove the photographs in your bedroom?”
He squirmed in her arms. “Because I was ashamed.” “You weren’t before.”
“That was before I decided to bring an angel to my bed.”
Are you wearing lipstick, or is that the natural shade of your lips?” She leaned forward at the waist and peered far too closely at Julia’s ripe, open mouth, their faces mere inches from one another.
Julia took a step backward. “Um, it’s my natural color.”
Ann took another step forward. “Extraordinary. You know, of course, that the natural shade of the lip is repeated across a woman’s body in more intimate places. Your color is so pleasing on your mouth. I’m sure it’s breathtaking elsewhere.”
Julia’s jaw dropped open..
You appeared to me in my darkness. You asked me once why I didn’t sleep with you that night. It’s so clear to me now; I drank in your goodness, and it satisfied my longings.”
You’re spoiling me.”
He lifted her chin. “No, my love, not spoiling. Just treating you as you deserve to have been treated all along. You’ve been surrounded by fools your whole life. Of whom I was chief.”
---Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope of redemption. When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide. An intriguing and sinful exploration of seduction, forbidden love and redemption, "Gabriel's Inferno" is a captivating and wildly passionate tale of one man's escape from his own personal hell as he tries to earn the impossible...forgiveness and love.
