We have a collection of fairytales by the Grimm brothers. Yohan bookmarked one of her favorite stories because she wanted me to read it. It's probably been two months since her initial request. Tonight, she asked me again. So I read it. In fact, we read it together. She would ask me the meaning of some words from time to time. And when I would react to a sentence she would say "I know" since she's read it before. But not revealing why because she wanted me to find out for myself.
It's called One Eye, Two Eyes, Three Eyes. I absolutely loved it! When we were done reading she wanted to know what my favorite part was. She told me hers. I liked that we were having that kind of conversation. So I asked what were the lessons learned in the story. While we were discussing, I felt like we were in a classroom. She was so confident in sharing why she loved it. I felt proud, because Yohan is shy in school.
I will never forget this bonding with Yohan tonight. I know for sure she won't either.
